Advice on Getting Started

Am I Fit Enough?

Yes if: you can walk up and down the stairs and you want to do it.  Honestly, mental fitness is 95% of the battle. We have designed Booty Camp to work for the gal who has never done a work-out in her life but it also goes right upto the girls who have been training for 2 years.  In my class we have one gal who runs 10km twice a week and we have one who has never worked out in her life and her goal is to lose 30kg – and everyone in between.  I don’t know how our amazing trainer does it, but we all work-out together and at the end everyone feels like they’ve really challenged their bodies but will live.

No if: you’ve really got it in your head that you will never be able to do it.  As I said – mental fitness is 95% of the battle.

At Booty Camp our motto is:
You don’t have to be fit to start, but you do have to start to be fit.

Is Booty Camp Style Training Right For Me?

Yes if:
you respond to a challenge and are a little bit competitive, or like working as part of a team. The idea behind Booty Camp is you are part of a group of like minded girls who are wanting to get fit. There will be lots of cheering each other on, a little bit of in-fun-only competition and the expectation you will tackle a little bit more every time.

Yes if: you are wanting to be hot and puffy during the session and a little bit know-you’ve-worked-those-muscles-sore the next day (it will go away and leave with you with tone)

No if: you are looking for a more sedate work-out like yoga or are absolutely opposed to running/ jogging (bad knees, high school bad memories, we understand).  There is not a lot of running, and you don’t have to be fast (most “running” is either a warm up jog, or some short sprints to get that heart rate up).

Mornings or Evenings?

Mornings if:
you have a tendency of working a little bit later than you planned to (you’ll have great intentions that everyone else around will ruin for you) or you have a hectic social life.  Mornings are actually pretty great when you get into the swing of it (and that only takes a week or two).  The sun is rising, its easy to find a parking spot and it sets you up for the rest of the day in a way you won't believe til you try it.

Evenings if: you need to be in the office/ classroom/ store by 8am or you are in charge of getting the kids/ dogs/ boy out the door.  We wont lie to you, it requires more self-control to get to evening classes, but half our girls do it, so you can too.

What Are My Other Options?

Regular Booty Camp if: the military style, carry a tyre across the beach and drop and give me 50 approach appeals to you. And don’t get us wrong, it’s a very effective approach that many people, mainly, but not exclusively, men enjoy. It was the inspiration (albeit with some finessing for Booty Camp) There are several reputable providers training across Australia.

The Gym if: you are very self-motivated and know what you are doing (at least enough that you can see results). The upsides of the gym are you can go when you want and you can do whatever you like when you are there. If you are able to set yourself a program and goal and know you will go for it and you would rather have flexibility the gym could be a great option for you.

A Personal Trainer if: you don’t mind spending a bit more to get a personalized result.  The upsides of a personal trainer is its all about you, what you like doing, what you are trying to achieve and where and when you want to train.  It will cost about 3-4x a session what Booty Camp costs so you’ve really got to want the personalization.  If you do we recommend Find My Personal Trainer to match you up with the perfect trainer for you.
